Award-Winning Driveways & Paving Across Hampshire
Three generations of one Hampshire family installing block paving, tarmac and resin driveways across the county since 1996.
Get a Free Family-Business QuoteHampshire Driveways isn’t a franchise, a national chain, or a sales operation that subcontracts the actual work. We’re a family-owned and family-run driveway business, started by one Hampshire family in 1996, and still owned and operated by the same family today.
That matters because when you call us, you talk to the family. When we come to quote, it’s the family. When we install, it’s our family team — not a contractor we’ve never met. And when something needs sorting in five years’ time, the family is still here to answer the phone.
We’ve installed driveways, patios, paving and walling for hundreds of Hampshire families — some of whom we’re now installing for the second or third time as their homes evolve.

“Used Hampshire Driveways for our block-paved driveway last spring. The family team were polite, on time every day, and the finished job is genuinely beautiful. Couldn’t fault them.”
“Brilliant from quote to completion. As a family-run business they actually care about the result. Our new resin driveway has had compliments from every neighbour. Would recommend to anyone.”
“We’ve had them back three times now — driveway, patio, then garden walls. They feel like part of the family at this point. Honest, tidy, properly skilled. The real deal.”
When you hire a national chain or a one-man-band with subcontractors, you don’t really know who’s turning up at your house. With a family business like ours, the people who quote you, install your driveway, and look after you afterwards are all the same family team.
That means decisions made fairly, problems sorted personally, and a reputation we genuinely have to live up to — because our family name is on every driveway we leave behind. We’ve been building that reputation in Hampshire since 1996, and we’re not about to start cutting corners now.
Every driveway is built on a properly excavated and compacted sub-base with permeable detailing, edging and drainage that will outlast cheaper alternatives by decades.
More About Our Family
Yes — properly. Hampshire Driveways has been owned and run by the same Hampshire family since 1996. When you call us you speak to family members, when we quote it’s the family team that visits, and the same family team installs every driveway. No franchise, no sales reps, no subcontractors we’ve never met.
Block paving offers the most flexibility on pattern and colour, and individual blocks can be lifted and replaced. Tarmac is the most cost-effective on larger areas and is extremely hard-wearing. Resin is the modern, low-maintenance choice with a seamless finish. Traditional Hampshire homes tend to suit block paving, modern builds suit resin, and larger shared accesses suit tarmac with block-paved borders.
Since 2008, planning permission is required if you’re creating a non-permeable driveway over 5 square metres that drains onto the public highway. The solutions are: use a permeable surface like resin-bound or permeable block paving, route water to a soakaway on your own land, or install a linear drain connected to existing drainage. Most of our installations are designed to be SUDS-compliant from the start.
Most residential driveway installations from our family team take 5-10 working days, depending on size, materials, drainage requirements and weather. Larger projects with walls or substantial groundwork may run two to three weeks. We give you a written schedule with your quote so you know exactly what to expect.
Our family team covers the whole of Hampshire and the surrounding counties — including Fareham, Winchester, Southampton, Portsmouth, Petersfield, Eastleigh, Gosport, Romsey, Hamble, Hayling Island, Basingstoke, Chichester, and the New Forest.
Bigger firms typically subcontract the actual installation work. With our family business, the people who own the company are the people who install your driveway. That means clearer accountability, better workmanship, fairer pricing (no sales commission layered on top), and someone who’ll still be here to take your call in five years’ time if you need anything.
It depends on size, materials, drainage, edgings, and any walls or extras. As a rough family-business guide: a small block paved driveway typically starts from around £3,500, mid-size driveways with proper drainage and edging tend to be £6,000-£12,000, and large or premium driveways with walls, lighting or 3D-designed details range upwards from there. We always provide a full written quote at no charge.
